Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, PRO-9 director, led the awarding of medals to Executive Master Sergeant Arlene Cabrera, Master Sergeant Milagros Supnet, Senior Master Sergeant Jessica Sarsalejo, Senior Master Sergeant Rina Saldo, Master Sergeant Aisa Jamil, and Staff Sergeant Jay Rose Corro.

Ylagan said that Cabrera and Supnet received the Medalya ng Kasanayan (PNP Efficiency Medal) for initiating a webinar on the use of Incident Response Integration System (PROJECT I.R.I.S.) that has substantially decreased the number of shooting incidents in the PRO-9 area of responsibility.

Ylagan said that Sarsalejo, Saldo, and Jamil received the Medalya ng Papuri (PNP Commendation Medal) for initiating 98 police-community activities that benefited some 2,800 female individuals, children, and senior citizens.

He said that Corro was also awarded the Medalya ng Papuri (PNP Commendation Medal) for her generosity in giving brand new aluminum crutches to Angelito Alvarez, a differently-abled person.

He said the 2021 National Women’s Month Celebration serves as a tribute, a platform, and a call to action that highlights the extraordinary roles of ordinary women in society as trailblazers and harbingers of change.

“This celebration is also a venue to discuss and address the issues that women continue to face so empowerment can be fully achieved. The campaign is also a call for concrete, sustainable, and inclusive actions towards gender equality,” he said.

Currently, 10 percent of the population of Uniformed Personnel of the Philippine National Police are women, according to Ylagan. (PNA)
