Department of Transportation (DOTr) Assistant Secretary for Communications and Commuters Affairs Goddess Hope Libiran appealed for empathy and kindness, especially for those who have been afflicted with the dreaded COVID-19 disease.
During the Survivors Speak Virtual Presser conducted by the Department of Health (DOH) on August 23, Libiran narrated how COVID-19 has altered her vantage points in life, as well as the lessons she learned from her experience.
Libiran announced that on August 7, 2020 that she tested positive of COVID-19 via her Facebook post.
“Itong naranasan ko, na nagkaroon ako ng COVID at naka-recover, actually for me, this is life-changing. I learned to be more understanding and empathetic pagdating sa kalagayan ng ibang tao,” Libiran said.
“We can relate and learn to appreciate the mindset and emotional state of a Covid-19 patient, and the struggles and obstacles that he/she has to face and overcome over an unknown and unseen enemy, we as a nation can move forward, and together, win this war against a pandemic,” Libiran added.
Libiran highlighted the importance of following the health guidelines and protocols being imposed by government to protect the health and safety, and uphold the welfare of everyone.
“We need to be responsible citizens and we should really be strict to ourselves and our loved ones when it comes to the observance of sanitation protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” she said. (Vanessa Rodriguez, PIA)
