“Discipline is key.” This is the motto of a Habal-Habal driver, Joyce Dublin, 30, who graduated magna cum laude despite being a decade late from schooling.
With a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, Major in Mathematics at Cebu Technological University-Daanbantayan Campus, Dublin was also the class valedictorian when he was in high school. Because of financial constraints, he was forced to set aside college to work for a living.
One of his passengers, upon learning his situation, offered to help him finish his studies.
From this rare opportunity given to him, a blessing in disguise as they coined it, Dublin grabbed the chance to redeem himself. It may be a bit of a struggle for Dublin, being able to study again after a decade of hiatus, but aside from discipline, he also said that “it takes hard work and a whole lot of faith to arrive at the right formula for success.”
These are just a few stories of inspiration, coupled with an act of kindness from people who wants to raise their fellow Filipinos from poverty that hopes to motivate others to never lose hope in their dreams when opportunities arrive.
